Marketing Stats for Facebook

Facebook is big. As the largest social network in the world it is constantly growing with over 2 billion users as of June 2017 (https://www.facebook.com/zuck/posts/10103831654565331?pnref=story)
– 1.25 billion of these are on mobile alone.

That’s over 5X the population of the United States, 15% of the world population … and it’s still climbing.

It’s not only the sheer number of people, but the amount of our attention Facebook owns. Globally, the average user spends 50 minutes per day with Facebook properties.

Considering the average person sleeps 8.8 hours a day, that means one-sixteenth of our waking hours are spent with our eyes glued to the social network.

These statistics make Facebook the biggest social network operating today. It’s a valuable website for marketers, whether they are promoting a product or service, or conducting market research.

Your goal should not be to be good at Facebook, but to be good at business because of Facebook. It all starts with working on a well thought out Facebook marketing strategy.

Facebook marketing is not the same thing as Facebook advertising. Yes, your Facebook marketing strategy can include advertising (more on that below), but since Facebook is, after all, a social network, your strategy should also include efforts to build lasting relationships and ongoing engagement through valuable content that’s not about making the sale.

How Can You Market on Facebook?

Facebook has three tools (pages, ads, and groups) that can be used by anyone. Each of these options has its own purpose, and they can be combined for greater reach.

Follow these steps, experiment, test and track your results. And remember, social platforms like Facebook offer a lot of new opportunities for everybody, but it takes time to get results.

If Facebook is not a current part of your marketing campaign, it should be. Set aside some time to tinker around, start a few test campaigns, and see what happens. Like anything, it takes practice to get good at it.

My advice: get started now. Marketing on Facebook can help you efficiently reach all of the people who matter most.

So, be patient and work with people who understand this and know what they are doing!
